    Does Thought (capital T) bring you to the edge of an abyss, the ocean of Being (as opposed to merely being human) - and thus either to terror, or to serene contemplation of the surrounding beyond ?

    Headlands, however, can also be inland. Promontory-forts were common in the Bronze Age and well into the Iron Age...
